Rail cargo transport is anticipated to increase to 21.93% in 2053 from 5.08% in 2023.
The 503km electric-powered railway line will be constructed between Ankara and the port-side city of Izmir.
The 67km high-speed railway route will feature European Rail Traffic Management System Level 1.
The new line of 368km forms part of a 1,219km track being developed to bolster trade with neighbouring countries.
A new double-track, electrified high-speed rail track will be developed between Ispartakule and Cerkezkoy.
The project intends to cut down travel times for commuters and goods.
Alstom will also provide wayside equipment for eight stations.
Körfez Ulaştırma’s fleet will feature a total of 12 locomotives once the delivery is complete.
