About Us

Transurb is a private company from Belgium active in the development of rail and urban mobility solutions, as well as rail simulation and advanced training tools.
Bespoke rail simulation solutions
The simulation department was born 15 years ago by combining the considerable expertise of Transurb with a young and dynamic team. The department is specialised in the design, manufacture and delivery of bespoke rail simulation solutions.
With its acute sense of pedagogy and innovation, Transurb Simulation offers modern and empowering solutions to companies aiming for state-of-the-art training tools to support their training programme. Well-aware of the importance of providing high-quality solutions and maintaining long-term relationships with our customers, our philosophy pools pedagogy, a co-creative approach, upgradability and flexibility.
Simulators and advanced training solutions for the rail industry
Our simulators and advanced training solutions are dedicated to passengers, freight and urban rail transports and can take several forms, including nano, nano+, compact and full-scale simulators, as well as tablet applications, procedural trainers and virtual reality solutions.
Nano simulators are computer-based, associating theoretical training with a first practical driving experience through simulation. They offer the highest degree of portability and are ideal to learn theory or procedures.
The Nano+ simulator is the state-of-the-art computer-based simulator combines portability, design and performance. It consists of a screen with an unrivalled resolution integrating the computer tower, a touchscreen and instrumentations connected by USB to clip onto your desk. This solution is perfect for signalling training.
Compact simulators, with or without interchangeable desks, are an advanced training tool provides a high degree of immersion while optimising the space dedicated to simulators in the training centre. This cost-effective solution can be equipped with interchangeable desks, enabling training for several types of rolling stock with just one unit.
Full-scale simulators, with or without motion system, provide the most intense and accurate driving experience to trainees aspiring to become drivers. This solution can be used to teach most topics and operational needs and is particularly useful to train for new types of rolling stocks or potential adaptations and upgrades.
Tablet applications include TrainLab, our cutting-edge application that can be considered as the interactive handbook of your train. Plunged into his train, learners get familiarised with a new rolling stock with or without the help of a wizard, and discover its functioning thanks to texts, videos, animations, pictures and audio explanations.
Virtual reality solutions for training of railway personnel
Virtual reality solutions offer the perfect balance between immersion and portability. Its possibilities are limitless, including procedural training such as for breakdowns and malfunctions, recruiting and branding application amongst others.
These solutions can also cover a large number of topics, including:
- Rolling stock discovery and familiarisation
- Failures management
- Route familiarisation
- Signalling systems, train protection systems and transitions between signalling systems
- European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS)
- Communications-based train control (CBTC)
- Maintenance procedures and training
- Eco-driving
- Driving in degraded mode
- Radio and communication protocols
- Track safety procedures
- Coupling and uncoupling
- Vocational training
These solutions are particularly suited for initial and continuous training of:
- Conductors
- Drivers
