China’s steelmaker Baosteel has developed a new variety of corrosion-resistant bearing steel, dubbed S450EW, for railway wagons.
The new product is lightweight and 50% more resistant to corrosion compared with existing products, the company said.
S450EW has been developed following three rounds of trial manufacture and was used in the trial manufacture of 2,000 vehicles.
Baosteel has also developed a matching welding material suitable for welding the wagons.
