Balfour Beatty Rail is an international rail engineering, design and construction business offering expertise in track, power and electrification, and signalling for multi-disciplinary as well as single-discipline projects.

With over 7,000 committed rail specialists, we deliver innovative solutions in more than 30 countries to help customers meet their objectives.

Track power and electrification systems

We have an extensive international capability to deliver systems for all types of operation: high-speed passenger, freight and mixed traffic routes, dense commuter networks, metros and light rail.

Our services cover the whole project lifecycle and we offer new construction, upgrades, renewals and maintenance.

Our skills and experience in delivering multi-disciplinary design and build projects is supported by a complete range of asset management services. This knowledge of working throughout the supply chain – from initial concept to whole-life management – enables us to deliver complex projects efficiently.

Track work, power, electrification and signalling

Equally important to us is our ability to focus on the single infrastructure disciplines of track work, power and electrification, and signalling. This focus is also supported by own innovative products and solutions to enhance rail infrastructure asset performance.

We are able to draw on the skills of the wider Balfour Beatty group, a world-class infrastructure group operating in professional services, construction services, support services and infrastructure investments.

Our in-depth knowledge and integrated approach sets us apart in the market and enables us to work with our customers from the earliest design phase to match their requirements for buildability and lifecycle costing.

We work through alliances and partnering arrangements as well as traditional contracts. We serve both public and private railways successfully across all types of operation. We are helping customers meet their objectives across Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia.

Our aim is to develop long-term partnerships with our customers through shared success.
