Swedish Rail Operator SJ to Strengthen its Digital Capabilities by Partnering with S3 Passenger
Sqills has been selected by Swedish rail operator SJ to deliver the leading S3 Passenger SaaS solution for inventory, reservation, and ticketing. This contract will offer a new range of services for SJ to promote rail as the preferred mode of transportation.
SJ chose Sqills S3 Passenger in support of the execution of their digital and customer preference strategies after an extensive tender process. S3 Passenger offers SJ and its customers thousands of out-of-the-box product features already available to 34 Sqills clients worldwide.
The standard S3 Passenger features already support SJ’s strategies going forward. A selection of these include a wide range of flexible pricing mechanisms, easy processing of multi-currency transactions, multi-country VAT calculation logic, multilingual graphical user interfaces for all system users, and easy integration and authorisation of all direct and indirect distribution channels.
SJ and Sqills are both committed to providing consumers those benefits/product features needed to promote rail as the preferred mode of transport in the highly-competitive Swedish and Norwegian markets. S3 Passenger’s flexibility and innovations are highly valued by Sqills clients operating in dynamic markets such as SJ, competing for customer preference and market share.
SJ chief commercial officer Mats Almgren said: “SJ’s ambition is to be one of Sweden’s most innovative enterprises. In fact, SJ has received awards for being Sweden’s most digitised travel company. This authoritative push to digitalisation means the flexible and proven structure of S3 Passenger is a logical fit. With Sqills’ innovative R&D, thousands of out-of-the-box features, flexible implementation, and full product offering, a partnership between Sqills and SJ simply makes sense.”
The go-live of the transition program that includes the introduction of S3 Passenger and all relevant integrations is scheduled for summer 2023. The implementation of S3 Passenger is another major SJ investment in the Swedish rail industry. SJ’s ambitious plans also include modernising all X 2000 trains, increasing capacity, and a comprehensive renovation of all SJ night trains.
Sqills board member and co-founder Alexander Mul commented: “SJ is constantly looking for ways to promote sustainable rail travel. As a result, SJ deploys technology to improve customer experience, increase accessibility, reduce costs, and make the work of SJ employees easier. S3 Passenger fits perfectly within that goal. The increased demand for rail journeys because of growing environmental engagement means that operators need a business and technical standard to benefit from short time to market and an agile approach based on configuration over customisation, relying on business expertise from all partners in the S3 Passenger community. As the leading software solution, Sqills is in a unique position to help operators achieve their goals.”
