The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation of Hawaii has appointed a joint venture (JV) comprising Granite Construction Company, Shimmick Construction and Traylor Bros to design and build airport guideway and stations in Honolulu.
The $875m contract involves construction of a 5.2 miles elevated line between Aloha Stadium and Middle Street Transit Centre station, development of Pearl Harbor Naval Base transit station, as well as two more stations, with one close to Honolulu International Airport and one at Middle Street.

The JV will begin construction in 2017 and expect to complete this by 2021.
