Following a strong start, new appointments are made in support of Powernet Oy’s expansion in the Scandinavian market.

Finnish power electronics supplier, Powernet Oy, has opened a new office in Sweden and has appointed Fredrik Wedén as Sales Manager for Sweden. Fredrik has a long track record from Electrical component sales and has most recently headed up Amphenol’s Nordic Industrial Division.

“I’m really excited to take on the challenge that Powernet has offered me and be able to be a part of such a professional and good team. It’s always nice to go in to a new market with cutting edge technology and with our new high efficiency platforms and the high focus on Green energy we have in the Nordic market and especially in Sweden I believe that we are set on the road to greatness”, Wedén comments.

“We are really pleased to have Fredrik Wedén on board and at the same time having established a strong local presence in the Swedish market. We expect that Fredrik will with his extensive contact network and experience contribute with the right ingredients to make this venture in to the Swedish market a great success for us. The Swedish industrial market is the largest in the Nordic countries and we believe Powernet has a unique value proposition for our Swedish customers backed up by a complete design-to-manufacturing-to-after sales capability second to none in the global market place”, says Powernet´s VP, Sales and Marketing Harry Lilja.

New Facility for Head Office
To support the growth in the Nordic market Powernet´s Finnish head office moved to new facilities in Varisto, Vantaa. At the same time Powernet´s SMD assembly line in the Äänekoski factory was upgraded with a new pick and place machine, doubling their SMD assembly capacity in Finland.

“In full operation since beginning of January the new facility is optimized for Powernet’s needs – now we have state-of-the art development lab and testing areas for power supplies up to several kWs. With the latest investments in Finland and the international expansion we are well positioned to serve the growing need for demanding custom design power supplies ”, says Kauko Suhonen, CEO of Powernet.

In June 2010, Powernet established a permanent office also in Germany, to support its envisioned growth. The company’s goal is to become Europe’s best manufacturer of customer-specific, high-end power supplies in its class.
