The German companies Winkler from Heidelberg and Metawell from Neunburg developed a heated floor panel for rail cars in a joint venture.

The result is a lightweight, compact and efficient system. The integration of the sleeve-free heating cable of Winkler in the sandwich panels of Metawell is an innovative concept.

“Safety, reliability and passenger convenience in rail cars have to be secured even in adverse weather conditions. The new heated floor panel can contribute to this.” States Wolfgang Weis, experienced head of sales for rail applications at Winkler. The new product will be launched at the Innotrans 2010.

Winkler is specialised in electrical heating solutions for railway and industrial applications.

The lightweight and extremely bend-proof aluminium sandwich panels of metawell are used in traffic engineering (rail cars, busses, automotive), shipbuilding and construction.
