Multinational rail service Thalys has selected Dutch supply chain planning and optimisation (SCP&O) developer Quintiq to optimise its crew for improved operational efficiency and fluidity.

With links throughout four European countries, Thalys has transported more than 100 million passengers. Its 330 drivers, managers, and station staff make more than 50 round trips every day to transport seven million passengers per annum.

The company requires a new planning system in order to fulfill the complex requirements of its cross-country service operations.

Quintiq intends to deliver a quick solution configured to Thalys’s needs. It is reported the system was requested to have multilingual capabilities for the company’s French and Belgium crew.

It should also enable the crew to optimise long-term shifts, rosters, and assignments, as well as disruption management.
