The environmentally friendly, low-consumption diesel multiple units (DMUs) will be capable of reaching a maximum operating speed of up to 140km/h.

Nordjyske Jernbane CEO Peter Hvilshøj said: "I am looking forward to expand Nordjyske Jernbane commercial service in the North Jutland region, thanks to the procurement of the passenger-friendly Lint trains."

"With this new order, Denmark will then have approximately 100 Lint regional trains running in passenger operation."

The two-car DMUs will have 125 seats and accommodate 135 standing passengers, as well as have sufficient space for wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers.

The barrier-free entrances of these trains offer full accessibility to all passengers, including people with reduced mobility.

In 2001, Nordjyske Jernbane was formed with the merger of two local railway companies and is 89% owned by the local authority.

The company owns the 18 km Hjørring-Hirtshals and 40km Frederikshavn-Skagen lines, and operates a fleet of eight Siemens Desiro DMUs.
