Alstom LINT Nordjyske Jernbaner

Alstom has secured a €45m contract from Danish railway company Nordjyske Jernbane for the delivery of 13 Coradia Lint regional trains.

The new Coradia Lint 41 trains will enter into service during late 2017 in Denmark particularly on the Nordjyllands network.

The environmentally friendly, low-consumption diesel multiple units (DMUs) will be capable of reaching a maximum operating speed of up to 140km/h.

Nordjyske Jernbane CEO Peter Hvilshøj said: "I am looking forward to expand Nordjyske Jernbane commercial service in the North Jutland region, thanks to the procurement of the passenger-friendly Lint trains."

"With this new order, Denmark will then have approximately 100 Lint regional trains running in passenger operation."

The two-car DMUs will have 125 seats and accommodate 135 standing passengers, as well as have sufficient space for wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers.

The barrier-free entrances of these trains offer full accessibility to all passengers, including people with reduced mobility.

All trains under this order will be manufactured at Alstom’s Salzgitter plant in Germany.

Alstom Transport Denmark managing director Christian Algreen-Ussing said: "We will supply Nordjyske Jernbane with a train that has shown remarkably high and solid track record on punctuality and reliability.

"With this new order, Denmark will then have approximately 100 Lint regional trains running in passenger operation."

In 2001, Nordjyske Jernbane was formed with the merger of two local railway companies and is 89% owned by the local authority.

The company owns the 18 km Hjørring-Hirtshals and 40km Frederikshavn-Skagen lines, and operates a fleet of eight Siemens Desiro DMUs.
