Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation Ltd (BST), the Chinese joint venture (JV) of Bombardier Transportation, has secured the second high-speed train car supply contract from China Railway (CRC) in a year.

Valued at $453m, the contract requires BST to supply 168 CR400AF high-speed train cars to CRC.

These high-speed train cars will be delivered in a configuration of 15 eight-car trainsets and three 16-car trainsets. These units can operate at a maximum speed of 350km/h.

Bombardier Transportation China president Jianwei Zhang said: “This repeat order comes just three months after the previous, clearly demonstrating the pace of development in the Chinese high-speed rail market, as well as the trust that CRC has placed in our products and performance.

At the end of September, BST won a $324m contract to deliver 120 CR400AF Chinese standard high-speed train cars.

Established in 1998, BST is jointly owned by CRRC Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock and Bombardier.

The company offers designing, manufacturing, maintenance and after-sales services in China and the international markets. It has over 3,800 employees.

So far, it has delivered more than 4,000 high-speed train cars and railway passenger cars.

Bombardier Transportation has six JVs in China besides seven completely overseas-owned firms.
