Deutsche Bahn (DB) is a German headquartered multinational railway manufacturer active in the fields of passenger transportation, signaling, and locomotives that is recognized for Business Expansion, Innovation, Investments and Research and Development in the 2022 Railway Technology Excellence Awards.
The company has been working on investing to upgrade its rail network and intends to upgrade and review nearly 1,800km of track, 140 bridges and 800 stations with the aim of making existing infrastructure more efficient. Another collaboration saw the company unveil the world’s first automatic train in Germany, which made its debut under the Digital S-Bahn Hamburg project, which is part of DB’s Digital Rail Germany project. The train made its premiere run at the launch of the Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress (ITS) in Hamburg.
The company also collaborated on a pilot battery train service in Germany, the Battery Electric Multiple Unit (BEMU) will commence revenue services with passengers onboard from next week in Baden-Württemberg. It also introduced an HVO-fuelled train to carry cars from UK to Europe, the train will transport British-made hybrid cars to continental Europe in an initiative described by the UK Government as a ‘pioneering and environmentally friendly first’ for the country.
