Public transport in Zagreb as we know it today would be unimaginable without trams, which have been operating safely through the streets of Zagreb for more than a century, running along a 120km-long track.
The system is operated by Zagrebački Električni Tramvaj d.o.o. or better known under the short name ZET. ZET is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the 277 sets, of which 142 are low-floor trams.
For this responsible task, a particularly low-construction, telescopic lifting system was ordered from Autolift GmbH in Austria at the end of 2018. Only with this specially developed system is it possible to stow the lifting jacks below the elevated rails with a height of 1,700mm to save space. Thanks to a stroke of 1,375mm, the trams can still be raised to a height of approximately 3m above ground level, hence the bogies can be disassembled and driven through under the raised vehicle and be exchanged.
The system was commissioned by Autolift GmbH in 2019 and officially handed over to ZET. Since then it has been the heart of the modernized ZET depot in Spremište Trešnjevka.
