IGW’s heat treatment process has been accredited in the Transportation & Power Generation (TPG) Accreditation Program, which is known to have the highest possible quality demands for special processes in the industry. The accreditation audit was performed as part of the qualification process of a North American leading locomotive builder. With this, IGW has become one of the only transmission solution suppliers worldwide that has achieved TPG accreditation.

The accreditation applies to our heat treatment and non-destructive testing processes, and to the transport and power generation industries. The laborious accreditation process took over three months in total, and will be re-assessed on a yearly basis.

The TPG programme is used to improve quality and lead time through improving manufacturing process controls and performance. The rules are modelled on the aerospace industry’s Nadcap programme and therefore TPG is intended to, like Nadcap, have broad participation from all industry stakeholders. Accreditation is achieved after having an audit conducted by the not-for-profit Performance Review Institute (PRI) and participating in an industry-managed audit review process.

During the review process, supplier quality staff from transportation and power generation industry subscribing companies, supported by PRI, work with the suppliers to ensure that work meets the requirements of the transportation and power Generation industry.
