During Embedded World 2011 in Nuremberg, the PICMG will officially release the new bus standard CompactPCI® Serial. MEN Mikro Elektronik, together with PICMG Europe and other PICMG members, uses this opportunity to present CompactPCI Serial at the trade show and in a press conference.

CompactPCI Serial paves the way into the future

CompactPCI Serial is a new bus standard by the PICMG. It supplements the parallel CompactPCI 2.0 by additional fast serial point-to-point connections. The higher signal density and higher transmission frequency of 12GB/s and more is realised using a new connector concept.

The new CompactPCI Serial standard also leads PCI Express®, SATA, USB and Ethernet to the backplane of the system, while being consistently based on the CompactPCI 2.0 mechanics. This way, a cost-effective and fast migration from CompactPCI to CompactPCI Serial is possible, as the user can keep existing 19in systems.

The PICMG will officially release the CompactPCI Serial standard during Embedded World 2011 in Nuremberg. There are some products already on the market, however. MEN will present its complete CompactPCI Serial product range at Embedded World. This includes the single-board computer G20, several peripheral boards, a hybrid system or a complete CompactPCI Serial rack.

In addition, the PICMG will have a joint booth with several members, where there will be two special presentations a day about CompactPCI Serial.

MEN will exhibit in hall 12, booth number 545.

PICMG will exhibit in hall 9, booth number 202 (presentations about CompactPCI everyday at 10:00am to 11:00am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm).
