Construction of the 5.7km rail extension between Noarlunga Centre Railway Station and Seaford District Centre began in January 2011.
Design Technologies International (DTI) was set up in 1991 and enjoys an established position in the field of special-purpose custom-designed machine tools.
The company has backed the development of its design department, which means its design engineers can apply state-of-the-art equipment and solid edge software. DTI design engineers regularly participate in skills training and visit the most important trade events and fairs in the world, including EMO and IMTS. Within the framework of modern technology development, DTI maintains a long-standing cooperation with academic centres, above all with the Engineering College of Gliwice and it has several dozen patents.
Special machine tools and turnkey projects for railway shops
DTI designs and manufactures special machine tools, including vertical turning lathes, horizontal lathes, horizontal boring and milling machines and planer mills. It also designs, manufactures and coordinates turnkey projects for railway shops.
DTI has been continuously providing its measuring laboratory with new equipment. Apart from small measuring devices the company has two lasers at its disposal, the Hamar laser for measurement of geometry and the Renishow laser for measurement of positioning accuracy.

Vertical turning center type VTC 150 CNC is a modern machine tool designed for the complex machining of rings and railway wheels, with six jaws self-centering table and gantry frame for easy loading and unloading.

The special vertical turning lathe WB90CNC is designed for boring, turning and facing operations on railway wheels. It may be configured with a number of options and accessories, including an automatic electronically adjusting boring bar for hub boring, a tool slide in the boring beam for hub turning and facing, and a second slide for rim-facing operations.
The horizontal lathe TV 30 CNC is a special four ways step-bed design machine tool designed for rough or finish high-efficient machining of rail axles.
