MTM Power offers a wide range of EN50155 compliant DC/DC converters with 30-650W which are especially designed for vehicle and railway applications. Particularly for the sophisticated use in trains, these devices supply the electric and electronic systems on board and track side. Besides these rail converters, the product range includes DC/AC inverters and filters. In addition, MTM Power also provides an extensive range of AC/DC modules for various applications.
MTM Power products meet all relevant standards and VDE/EN/UL regulations if applicable. A worldwide unique thermo-selective vacuum encapsulation, large-scale testing and examination, including burn-ins, guarantee a high-quality and reliability.
The DC/DC power supply systems are designed among others for supply of electrical applications from DC mains for different applications in transportation, telecommunications and the charging of lead batteries during stand-by parallel operation. Their quality standard is above average - they are absolutely reliable and stressable.
The universally usable, modular and easy-to-scale system is based on the DC/DC converters of the series PCMD250W and PCMD400W which are proved in transportation applications. The series is available with 2-5 plug-in positions (MPG2, MPG3, MPG4, MPG5) for the 250W or 400W converters and a total output power of 500-2,000W. With different wide input voltage ranges between 14.4VDC and 154VDC, the devices supply output voltages between 12VDC and 110VDC.
Compact, encapsulated DC/DC converters with 80W and 150W output power operate according to the push-pull principle; i.e. the input dc-voltage is chopped by two push-pull working transistors with a frequency of approximately 70kHz. With the help of a transformer and a secondary linear choke, a galvanically isolated output voltage (5.1V; 12V; 13.8V; 24V; 27.6V or 48V) is produced which is adjusted by pulse-width modulation according to the current mode principle. The converters are available with a wide input range for battery voltages of 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, 72V, 80V, 96V and 110V according to EN 50 155 and are also available according to NFF 16 101 and NFF 16 102, Level F1I2. The converters need no ground load and are short-circuit protected by primary and secondary power limiting. Cooling is achieved by free convection.
Encapsulated DC/DC converters with 250W and 400W output power operate according to the push-pull principle, i.e. the input dc-voltage is chopped by two push-pull working transistors with a frequency of approximately 60kHz. With the help of a transformer and a secondary linear choke, a galvanically isolated output voltage (12V or 24V) is produced which is adjusted by pulse-width modulation according to the current mode principle. The series PCMD250W and PCMD400W are available with input voltages of 24VDC (16.8VDC to 36VDC), 80VDC (50VDC to 150VDC) or 110VDC (66VDC to 154VDC) and can be connected via screw connectors. Due to this compact design, they are also suitable for applications where only little space is available. Further features are a mechanically and electrically rugged design using SMD-technology and an automatic piece-by-piece test. PCMD with 250W and 400W also available according to NFF 16 101 and NFF 16 102, Level F1I2.
The high voltage converters for operation at contact wire are available with an input range of 600VDC / 750VDC: 420VDC to 1100VDC and the standard output voltage of 24VDC and 36VDC. The DC/DC converters are used for supplying points, signal lamps and electronic monitoring of the rail net. The specific feature is its use as a self-starting module for trams or trolley buses with exhaustive discharged batteries so that the towing process can be avoided. The rugged design together with high-quality components guarantee the high reliability in vehicles even under severe shock and vibration conditions. The high efficiency of =83% allow an operation without forced ventilation. Moreover the converters work within an ambient temperature range from -40°C to +85°C according to EN 50 155.
The DC/DC converters series URC have been designed as power supplies for the use in vehicles, particularly for railway. Due to the ultra wide input range of 14.4VDC to 154.0VDC, the converters can be operated at all usual battery voltages (24VDC/ 36VDC/ 48VDC/ 60VDC/ 72VDC/ 110VDC) according to EN 50 155 in railway vehicles and in stationary applications. They are available with single (5.1VDC, 12VDC, 15VDC, 24VDC, dual (±12VDC, ±15VDC) and triple (5/±12VDC, 5/±15VDC) outputs. The converters can be used as a 19in plug-in or for wall mounting both to be connected via a H15 connector and can be switched on and off by the enable input. Further features of the URC series are input and output voltage monitoring, high temperature range, high reliability and long life.
