MTM Power offers a wide range of EN 50 155 compliant DC/DC converters, with 14W - 600W, which are especially designed for vehicle and railway applications. These devices supply the electric and electronic systems on-board and track-side.

In addition to rail converters, the product range includes DC/AC inverters, filters and multi-power supply systems. MTM Power also provides an extensive range of AC/DC modules for various applications.

MTM Power products meet all relevant standards, as well as VDE/EN/UL regulations if applicable. Large-scale testing and examination ensures high quality and reliability for the worldwide, unique thermo-selective vacuum encapsulation (EP 1 987 708, U.S. Patent No. 8,821,778 B2).

Series PCMDS400 for railway applications

The primary switched DC/DC converters with 400W output of power are especially designed for railway applications. They operate according to the push-pull principle; i.e. the input DC-voltage is chopped by two push-pull working transistors with a frequency of approximately 60kHz. With the help of a transformer and a secondary linear choke, a galvanically isolated output voltage (12V or 24V) is produced, which is adjusted by pulse-width modulation according to the current mode principle.

The series PCMD400W is available with input voltages of with 36VDC (26...60VDC), 72VDC (43...101VDC), 80 VDC (55...150VDC) and 110VDC (66...154VDC) and can be connected via screw connectors. The dimensions of the devices, which are available in an aluminium case, are 150mm x 86mm x 55mm (length x width x height). Due to this compact design, they are also suitable for applications where only little space is available.

The converters need no ground load, are maintenance free and are short-circuit protected by primary and secondary power limitations. They are vacuum potted, prepared for use in devices with Protection Class II, and fulfil the low voltage directive. Further features include a mechanically and electrically rugged design using SMD-technology and an automatic piece-by-piece test. To ensure a smooth operation, it is necessary to mount the converters on a heat-dissipating surface.

200W for IP67 applications

The most remarkable feature of the primary switched modules PM-IP67A200 is the design, suitable for applications with protection degree IP67. Furthermore, they are especially designed for the electric supply of control, sensor and actuating systems.
In order to achieve protection degree IP67 for conventional power supplies, it has been necessary to install them into switching cabinets or corresponding enclosures.

The power supplies of the series PM-IP67A of MTM Power allow the use as a plug and play solution directly on-the-site. This is only possible due to the connection via special 7in / 8in connectors and the worldwide unique thermo-selective vacuum encapsulation developed by MTM Power.

The series PM-IP67A200 is available with 24V single and dual output voltages and is certified according to the standards UL 60 950-1 and UL 508. The compact supplies with AC (90VAC to 264VAC) and DC (100VDC to 300VDC) wide input range are designed for worldwide use under extreme, environmental conditions and allow an efficient, cost-saving solution for different tasks in all on-machine applications.

As an option, units with 24Vout are also available, with variable current limiting designs to allow a short-time 50% increase of output power. This function, known as power boost, allows application on motors, capacitive loads, etc.

The outputs of the dual output version are galvanically separated with a 3.3kVAC isolation voltage and are independently regulated. Both output voltages offer a limited power source accordant to EN 60 950-1 and UL 1310, NEC class 2. The devices are according to protection degree 1, and comply with the Low Voltage Directive, as well as with the up-to-date EMC standards as regards CE conformity.

Further features are rugged design, SMD-technology, automatic 100% final test and 100%-burn-in-test. The series PM-IP67A200 is constantly short circuit protected, needing no ground load, and operates within a temperature range of -25°C to 75°C.
