The Government of Western Australia has finalised route alignment and station locations for the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, as part of the METRONET project.
The 21km-long rail line will serve Perth’s north-eastern suburbs, where the population is expected to double from 2006 to 415,000 by 2031.

It will begin from the Midland Line at Bayswater station, running down the middle of Tonkin Highway north of Marshall Road, along the New Lord Street alignment to terminate at Ellenbrook town centre.
The line will feature stations at Ellenbrook, Whiteman Park, Malaga, Noranda and Morley. The plan also includes building another station at Bennett Springs East in the future.
Once complete, the line is expected to improve connectivity and half travel time between Ellenbrook and the CBD to around 30 minutes.
It is also estimated to reduce daily car trips from north-eastern suburbs by 10,000.

By GlobalDataWestern Australia Premier Mark McGowan said: “The rail line to Ellenbrook is the signature METRONET project. We promised to build it, and we’re delivering on that promise.
“This is a transformational project for our rail network, delivering world-class public transport to residents of Ellenbrook and the north-eastern suburbs.
“It is another job-creating METRONET project and will also help reduce congestion on local roads.”
The project is expected to create thousands of local jobs throughout the construction period. It is expected to begin with the redevelopment of Bayswater Station later this year.
Western Australia Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said: “This rail line will finally connect the-north eastern suburbs to the broader rail network, linking residents to more employment, education and recreation opportunities, and reducing congestion on our roads.”
