Australia’s Victoria Government is set to open another section of elevated railway service in Melbourne’s south-east following upgrade works.
Under the programme, the final four congested level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong will be removed. The workers will carry out power and signalling works, as well as connect new and old track sections.

Level crossings at Grange, Koornang, Murrumbeena and Poath roads will be removed as part of the planned works.
These works will decongest traffic in the region, as well as enable train services on a new 3.2km section of elevated rail between Caulfield and Hughesdale. Earlier this year, elevated train services commenced at Noble Park and Clayton.
The work programme is expected to continue until 17 June, when passengers can use train services from the rebuilt elevated stations at Murrumbeena and Carnegie.
Victoria Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan said: “The end is in sight for the last of these dangerous and congested crossings along the Dandenong line, we said we would get rid of them and that is exactly what we are doing.

Currently, the state government is engaged in a comprehensive programme to remove level crossing removals, as well as carry out power and signalling upgrades across the province to enhance train services across the Melbourne’s busiest train corridors.
They are also a part of the project to deliver more frequent train services from Cranbourne and Pakenham to Sunbury through the Metro Tunnel.
