Independent train ticket retailer Trainline has launched its latest voice app, which has been built for the Google Assistant.
Trainline’s voice app is expected to allow rail travellers to ‘talk to Trainline’ by asking everyday travel questions regarding their journey and receive real-time updates on details such as timetables and delays.
The voice app includes various smart built-in features and combines Trainline’s travel technology experience with Google’s conversational platform to make accessing information on the move easier for commuters.
The solution can handle deep conversational complexity, including answering 12 layers of questioning.
It also helps users to make requests and is able to follow up with intuitive questions.
Trainline product director Dave Slocombe said: “Trainline’s voice app is the latest in a long line of innovations that make this possible.

By GlobalData“We’re proud to have worked with Google and its powerful new Assistant platform on the creation of voice capabilities that can deliver complex travel information in a quick, simple and personal way.”
Users with the Google Assistant already open on their device can simple say or type ‘Ok Google, talk to Trainline’ to launch the app or directly go to the information they need, for example ‘Ok Google, ask Trainline how my journey home is looking’.
They will then be able to access information regarding their journey times and details, prices, delays and disruptions, as well as the weather conditions at their destination or departure point, and more.
In addition, ‘Cards’ in the Trainline voice app show helpful details relating to the weather or any delays, while suggestions will pop up to suggested phrases that may help users continue the conversation to discover useful features more easily.
