SICE Seguridad has secured a contract from Renfe to install Grade 3 security systems at 195 stations across suburban train networks within Madrid and Barcelona.

The project will see the installation of security and CCTV systems, relocation of equipment, and alignment of the rail system with Grade 3 of the current computer intrusion detection system.

SICE Seguridad will be responsible for the initiative, which intends to integrate Grade 3 security systems in stations across the Cercanías networks of both Madrid and Barcelona within this year.

“A total of 114 video recorders will need to be installed with closed circuit television (CCTV) in 93 new technical rooms in order to fulfil the requirements.”

All Cercanías stations require a Grade 3 security system involving medium / high-risk facilities according to the UNE-EN 50131-1 standards, which set four degrees of safety based on the characteristics of a particular location.

Furthermore, the standards require all the systems to be linked to a central unit.

A total of 114 video recorders will need to be installed with closed circuit television (CCTV) in 93 new technical rooms in order to fulfil the requirements.

Access control will also be deployed via proximity readers in 70 technical rooms.

Additionally, the existing intrusion security systems will be upgraded to fulfil current regulations by replacing 185 central alarms and certain intrusion elements that are deemed beyond grade.

All the new systems and equipment will have a two-year warranty.

SICE also secured a contract from local train authority Empresa de Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE) last week to automate train level crossings in Águila Sur and Patria Nueva in Chile.

The company will be responsible for implementing and commissioning two automated train level crossings as part of the project, namely a fullway lane crossing in Águila Sur and an affected level crossing in Patria Nueva.
