RB Rail joint venture has chosen Spanish company IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture as the design and design supervision partner for the construction of a high-speed railway line from Tallinn to Rapla in Estonia.

The offer provided by the Spanish company was chosen as economically advantageous, amounting to €11.36m.

The contract is expected to be signed following the completion of all the necessary procedures.

As per the preliminary design, the total high-speed railway section stretches 48km, which will include 32 viaducts and pedestrian crossing, including the Tallinn–Rapla highway viaduct over the railway and four animal passages (eco-ducts).

The scope of the work includes site investigations, master design preparation for construction of the railway track substructure, and other works related to civil structures.

The scope also covers the development of value engineering studies and detailed technical design, which needs to be executed within 24 months, as well as author supervision during the construction phase after design completion.

Out of the total 11 procurement procedures of the detailed technical design services for the Rail Baltica main line, seven have been launched in the Baltic States, covering more than 57% of the entire mainline.
