RB Rail has begun the process to develop the architectural, landscaping and visual identity guidelines for the railway infrastructure elements of Rail Baltica.

The company has selected Italian company 3TI Progetti to develop guidelines that are expected to offer streamlined solutions for the design of stations, railway bridges, signage, noise barriers, animal passages and other structures.

3TI Progetti will perform the work in collaboration with SBS Engineering Group after securing the project following an international competitive procurement bid.

Furthermore, the guidelines will standarise the conditions and concepts applied to materials, solutions, design and construction processes in other railway infrastructure projects.

3TI Progetti technical director Michele Amerio said: “Rail Baltica project is a public infrastructure project that connects three countries.

The purpose of these architectural guidelines is to connect these three counties with a common language, and at the same time emphasise the single identity of each country.”

The architectural, landscaping and visual identity guidelines are expected to be completed within 35 weeks.

The preparation process will cover individual consultations with stakeholders, feedback workshops and presentations in the three Baltic states.
