Project SWIFT has selected Klas Telecom’s TRX R6 and TRX S10 as key components of the on-board passenger Wi-Fi system, which is expected to be connected to the new type of trackside fibre.

TRX R6 served as the modular, multi-modem on-board communications gateway and server during the Project SWIFT trials, offering high-bandwidth and low-latency connectivity to the train.

TRX S10 acted as the switching platform, providing connectivity to in-carriage access points and on-board train event recording devices.

The Wi-Fi system also included TRX’s SDWAN ‘KlasOS’ solution, which aggregated WAN links and managed several wireless bearers to ensure availability of the off-board WAN link and higher throughput.
