Penta-Ocean Construction has been associated with several infrastructure projects in Singapore. The company is currently building the Bright Hill and Orchard stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

This was the first of the two civil contracts to be awarded by LTA. The second contract will be awarded in the first quarter of next year and involves the construction of the RTS Link viaduct.

The Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS is a cross-border rail project that will connect the neighbouring countries of Malaysia and Singapore.

Once complete, the RTS link will provide rail shuttle services between the Singapore terminus at Woodlands North station and the Malaysia terminus at Bukit Chagar station in Johor Bahru.

Another CIQ facility will also be located on the Malaysian side to facilitate cross-border travelling.

Construction works are slated to begin in the first quarter of 2021, with passenger services expected to start at the end of 2026.

Once operational, the RTS will support the movement of up to 10,000 passengers an hour in each direction, reducing congestion along the Causeway.

The project suffered numerous delays due to work suspensions. The two countries conducted a ceremony in July to mark the resumption of work on the RTS Link.
