Vossloh España has received orders worth more than €40m from French railway operators for the delivery of 12 units of the EURO 4000 locomotives.

This order includes eight new units for freight rail company VFLI, a subsidiary of SNCF Group, and four locomotives for rail operator Europorte.

Two of the VFLI units are directly ordered at Vossloh España, while the remaining six will be delivered by the pan-European leasing company, Beacon Rail Leasing.

The EURO 4000 features better performance, technology features, energy efficiency and environmental compliance.

Equipped with an electro-motive diesel (EMD) engine, the vehicles will be able to handle longer and heavier freight and passenger trains at a faster speed than its competitors, Vossloh stated.

These locomotives are completely designed and manufactured by Vossloh España in its facility in Albuixech, Valencia, Spain.

A total of 130 units of EURO 4000 have been delivered by Vossloh so far and the vehicles are operating in European countries as well as in Israel and South Africa.

In September, Vossloh España was awarded a follow-up order for ten UKLIGHT locomotives from Direct Rail Services (DRS).

This order will bring the total number of UKLIGHT locomotives in DRS’ UK fleet to 25 units.
