The railcars will be equipped with Vossloh Kiepe traction technology, which includes traction, static converters and control systems.

The railcars will be installed with three-phase alternator motors, which will facilitate quick jolt-free acceleration, as well as a brake energy tapping mechanism that will feed energy into the network for use in the next vehicle.

The trains are being designed by büro+staubach and will have large windows to view the engineering details of the monorail as well as the River Wupper.

The first rail car is scheduled to be delivered and tested in 2014, and two to three vehicles will be delivered by the end of 2015.
