Spanish train manufacturer Talgo has revealed plans to construct a new plant in the UK in order to strengthen its foothold in the British rail market and develop a local supply chain.
The plan to construct a new plant was announced by Talgo president Carlos Palaciois and forms part of the company’s comprehensive strategy to provide all forms of rail services within the British Isles, ranging from rolling stock supply to maintenance and repair works.

Talgo has already conducted a search for potential sites around the cities of Leeds and Liverpool.
The company is now holding discussions with local authorities and interest groups of the shortlisted potential sites to confirm the new plant's location.
It is also negotiating with multiple MPs from the same areas who have expressed their interest in hosting the new facility.
Talgo's new plant is expected to carry out the full train construction process and is slated to create hundreds of highly skilled jobs upon the commencement of operations, as well as engage local talent during the designing and production of rolling stock.
