The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded three contracts collectively worth around S$948m ($663m) to build three underground stations along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).
The three stations will be built at Tanjong Rhu, Katong Park and Marine Terrace stations along the TEL.

A consortium of Bachy Soletanche Singapore and Wai Fong Construction has been awarded a S$294m ($205m) contract to build Tanjong Rhu station.
Bachy Soletanche Singapore is a French geotechnical and civil engineering contractor and was earlier involved in the construction of Downtown Line 1’s (DTL1) Bugis and Telok Ayer stations. The company is currently working on TEL’s Orchard and Gardens By The Bay stations.
Wai Fong Construction is a civil engineering contractor in Singapore and is presently working on constructing TEL’s Mount Pleasant Station.
Shanghai Tunnel Engineering (Singapore) has been awarded S$293m ($205m) contract to build the Katong Park station. The company is currently involved the construction of Tuas West Extension, DTL3’s tunneling portion between Tampines East Station and Upper Changi Station, as well as TEL’s Shenton Way station and tunneling portion between Woodlands Station and Woodlands Avenue 12.

By GlobalDataA joint venutre of Ssanyong Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Engineering & Construction has been awarded a S$361m ($252m) contract to build Marine Terrace station and its associated tunnels.
Along with Marine Parade station, Tanjong Rhu and Marine Terrace stations will serve as civil defence shelters along the East Coast stretch of the TEL.
Construction under the project is expected to start by the first quarter of this year and is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
The 13km East Coast section of the TEL will link commuters in the eastern parts of Singapore with Tanjong Rhu, Siglap, Marine Parade, Upper East Coast and Bedok South, to the city centre.
The section will have nine stations, including a station that interchanges with the Downtown Line (DTL) at Sungei Bedok.
As part of the 43km-long TEL, the East Coast section will also link commuters to the Thomson stretch of the TEL, which serves the north-south corridor.
The East Coast section project will be completed in two stages, with the first seven stations from Tanjong Rhu to Bayshore expected to be ready in 2023, while the remaining two stations will be completed in 2024.
