Russian Railways and Railways of the Slovak Republic have signed a memorandum of cooperation to increase passenger and freight traffic using the Russian and Slovakian rail systems.
The cooperation agreement will facilitate the development and modernisation of transport infrastructure in the Slovak Republic.
Under the agreement both sides will work to integrate the Russian and Slovak railway networks into pan-European and Eurasian transportation systems.
The agreement will continue the joint work within the framework of the project to extend a broad-gauge railway line to Bratislava and Vienna and to set up an international logistics centre.
In addition, the agreement will ensure the provision of transport services that will bring mutual benefits and be in the long-term interests of both the Russian Federation and the Slovak Republic.
