Australia-based OEM Technology Solutions will implement Digi International’s platform-as-a-service Device Cloud by Etherios to increase efficiency for rail systems worldwide.
Device Cloud by Etherios provides two-way communication between any device and the cloud, while allowing products to proactively communicate issues through the web without the need of human support.
According to Digi, wireless connectivity will enable rail operators to collect information remotely so that they can understand how assets are working or not working, and the implementation of Device Cloud by Etherios will make that information even more accessible and actionable.
OEM Technology Solutions managing director Richard Gobee said: "Device Could by Etherios provides remote access to critical train data such as location, speed, equipment status and other information via the web, which allows train operators to improve their operations."
Digi International R&D senior vice-president and chief technology officer Joel Young said: "Cloud-enabling products was a natural next step for OEM Technology Solutions and their customers, and we were able to support their vision seamlessly by adding Device Cloud by Etherios connectivity to their products."
OEM Technology Solutions recently selected Digi International for its ConnectCore Wi-9C embedded wireless module and Digi Transport WR44 cellular gateway to enable its products wirelessly.
