Nokia is collaborating with CMC Engineering to provide an advanced communications network to support railway operations and passenger services for extension of the light rail system in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  

The network provides various services for the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line Extension, including 13 new stations, more than 46.8km and serves 350,000 passengers on a daily basis.

Nokia’s railway network is supporting high-speed voice, data and video traffic, as well as providing essential passenger information, improved maintenance and operations.

The data transmission network in Kuala Lumpur includes Nokia’s optical networking technology.

The company also provided systems integration services to help improve safety and security through remote diagnostics and automated functions, constant situation awareness with video surveillance.

Other services are supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA); monitoring systems; telephone and radio communications services; automated fare collection (AFC); and public address and passenger information systems.
