MTR Pendeltåg will be responsible for commuter rail train operations, and station management, as well as rolling stock maintenance as part of a  ten-year concession with a four-year extension option awarded in December last year.

The company will also work with the relevant transport and infrastructure authorities with regard to the opening of the newly built Stockholm City Line (Citybanan) next year.

This line will provide two new stations and a tunnel for commuter trains through central Stockholm to improve capacity of Sweden’s rail network.

Once the City Line service starts, new trains will be added to the Stockholm Pendeltåg fleet.
