Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has secured a contract from the CRRC Qingdao Sifang in China to deliver railcar electrical equipment.

This deal covers 93 train sets consisting of 744 cars that will operate on Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR).

Mitsubishi Electric stated that it intends to bolster its transportation systems business in Asia through this order.

Under the contract, Mitsubishi Electric will provide a one-package solution that includes systems for propulsion, auxiliary power supply and train management of the 93 sets.

Mitsubishi will deliver railcar electrical equipment to CRRC Qingdao Sifang between 2016 and 2022.

As well as continuing to expand its transportation business in Asia, Mitsubishi intends to bolster its maintenance and modernisation business. Mitsubishi Electric aims to achieve global revenues of $3.1bn in its transportation buisiness by 2021.
