The SEIS expands upon the development's comprehensive environmental analysis that was conducted between 2007 and 2012.

The new report includes additional analysis regarding the Century City Constellation station, seismic studies, public health, construction and other impacts for the planned subway alignment connecting the future Wilshire / Rodeo and Century City stations.

This information is expected to be provided during the public hearing via a presentation.

The US' Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is required to produce a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the project under a federal judgment issued in August last year.

Metro participated in the study, carried out additional analyses and reviewed various new studies as part of its responsibilities as the project sponsor.

"The new report includes additional analysis regarding the Century City Constellation station, seismic studies, public health, construction and other impacts for the planned subway alignment."

Work on the environmentally approved project is currently running on schedule.

The FTA will prepare and publish a final report later this summer following the public comment period scheduled to end of 17 July, which will include public responses.

Metro was awarded the Full Funding Grant Agreement in January, committing federal matching funds for Section 2 of the subway.

Major construction works on Section 2 are scheduled to begin in Century City next year, and are expected to be completed by 2026 at the latest.

The first section of the Metro Purple Line Extension Project is currently under construction, which will extend the subway 3.9mi west along Wilshire Boulevard from the line’s Wilshire / Western terminus.

Three new subway stations are also to be developed at Wilshire / La Brea, Wilshire / Fairfax and Wilshire / La Cienega.

The third section will extend the subway from Century City to the Westwood / VA Hospital vicinity, with an additional station at Wilshire and Westwood boulevards.
