The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) has opened a new transload terminal at its former Zacha intermodal terminal in Dallas, Texas.

Watco Transloading has been selected by KCSR to operate the multi-commodity facility.

The new transload facility offers 9,523ft of track space within the terminal, in addition to 80 acres of outside storage for customers with enough room for expansion.

KCS' TransLoad Center (TLC) network can handle various products.

"This is the 55th terminal opening within the Watco Terminal and Port Services network."

KCS executive vice-president and chief marketing officer Brian Hancock said: “KCS is focused on growth through key business relationships and a strategically positioned network.

"Providing customers with supply chain solutions through our TLC network and partnerships with companies like Watco are important components of that growth."

The company closed the former Zacha intermodal terminal when it opened a new $64m intermodal facility in Wylie, Texas, in July last year.

The Wylie intermodal terminal has an annual lift capacity of 342,000, 1,500 parking spaces, and 400 container stack spots.

Watco business development vice-president Rob Thrall said: "We are pleased to grow our partnership with KCS.

"The Watco operations team in Dallas is ready to provide safe, efficient operations and outstanding customer service.  This is the 55th terminal opening within the Watco Terminal and Port Services network."

Watco Transloading comprises 55 terminal facilities located throughout the US.
