The long-haul optical fibre network is expected to improve communications between trains and centralised traffic control systems.
The fibre-optic network will provide advanced information systems to improve passenger safety, and expand freight transport across Kazakhstan and to neighbouring countries, including Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The new network is expected to increase the efficiency and punctuality of the train network as it will support new broadband services and advanced on-board and in-station passenger information systems.
