IT firm Indra, part of the Adif consortium, has secured a €35m contract to install control, security and signalling technology on high-speed rail lines between Valladolid and Leon, and Venta de Baños and Burgos, in Spain.

The consortium also includes Alstom and Bombardier.

The contract includes the installation of the ERTMS level two signalling systems, Indra’s signal announcement and automatic braking system (ASFA), automatic train protection system, as well as auxiliary detection and security sensor concentrators.

Indra’s ASFA has already been installed on approximately one third of all trains operating in Spain.

In addition, the company will install a fixed telecommunications network, security systems and a DaVinci system, which was developed in partnership with Adif, to control rail traffic on the lines.

Indra will provide the software that controls the full signalling system and maintenance services for the next 20 years. These services are valued at more than €410m.

The company will be backed by additional funds for facility maintenance.

Under a separate development, the company will equip the Mecca-Medina high-speed line in Saudi Arabia with its signalling technology.

Furthermore, Indra will continue to invest in the development of latest generation rail technologies, including the ERTMS level two and ASFA digital systems, among others.
