The project is being managed by TUC RAIL on behalf of Infrabel, a rail infrastructure manager in Belgium.

The company was actively involved in all phases of the Watermael-Schuman-Josaphat rail link project, specifically in two major phases, including the complete renovation of the Brussels-Schuman station and supply of equipment for the Schuman-Josaphat tunnel.

"Under the project, approximately 100 security cameras, a fire detection system and new emergency exits have been installed at the station."

The works will, according to the company, allow the modernised station to reach its full potential as a multimodal hub, while new connections also ensure better connection between train and subway.

During the construction phase, 250 workers carried out work with minimal disruption to traffic and local residents.

At the time of the works being carried out, both the train station and subway remained in service.

According to TUC Rail, these works will help to increase the capacity of rail infrastructures between Watermael and Schuman and alleviate congestion at the Nord-Midi connection.
