Ukraine's public railway transport provider Ukrainian Railways has announced plans to raise UAH2bn ($76.5m) through an offering of corporate bonds.

German railcar leasing and financial services provider VTG Rail has announced the acquisition of 1,135 railcars from US-based rail equipment company Redwood Rail.

The transaction is set to expand VTG’s portfolio to 5,200 railcars and will enable the company to extend its business operations into other sectors.

Canadian rail equipment company Bombardier Transportation has won a $968m order from French National Railway Corporation Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) to supply 83 Regio 2N train sets.

The new trains will run on Line N and selected areas of the RER D line.

France-based multi-national company Alstom has won a contract from Akiem to perform renovation services on 23 BB 36000 locomotives.

The overhaul works will improve the durability and reliability of the trains, and will include bogie overhauls and the modernisation of driver cabins.
