Sichuan province in China is planning to invest 845.3bn yuan ($131bn) to build 11 railway lines in the province under its 12th Five-Year Plan programme.
Under the plan the Chengdu-Kunming railway line will be extended to include Emei and Ya’an station, as well as special Chengdu-Xi’an and Chengdu-Guiyang railway passenger lines.

The plan also includes construction of Chengdu-Xi’an and Chengdu-Guiyang railway passenger lines, construction of the Ya’an-Kangding (Xinduqiao) line, the Changdu section of Sichuan-Tibet railway line and the Emei-Guangtong section of Chengdu-Kunming railway.
Sichuan is also considering adding 90km of new subway line to urban rail transit system.
Upon completion of the project the travel time will reduce to half an hour from Chengdu to Jiangyou and Leshan cities, while the travel time from Chengdu to Emei will reduce to 40 minutes.
The Chinese province is planning to build a 308km Chengdu-Chongqing passenger line connecting Chengdu East train station to Chongqing station, which will reduce the journey time between Chongqing and Chengdu to an eight-hour round trip.
