Carillion has been selected by UK-based rail operator Network Rail as one of the contractors to deliver infrastructure work under a £750m multi-asset framework agreement.
Carillion will carry out 19 projects worth £250m in the north-east London area, which includes work on key routes of the East Coast mainline between London and the Scottish border, and the Midlands mainline.
Carillion will provide design, delivery, testing and commissioning for these projects, as well as upgrading track to improve line speed between London and Sheffield, allowing longer, wider and taller freight trains to run on this line.
The company will also prepare for the intercity express project and create a new entrance for Leeds station.
Design work has commenced and all projects are expected to be completed by 2016.
