The first order had been installed in specialty application areas such as turnout switch-sets and transoms including ties installed on open bridges, said AXION. The two orders together are worth about $200,000.

"This second order from a major international freight line was a great win for the company."

AXION Ecotrax sales manager Cory Burdick said: "This second order from a major international freight line was a great win for the company.

"We have been able to increase existing orders due to our ability to successfully and economically address the growing concern for replacing wood ties as they reach the end of their useful life prematurely due to rot, erosions and other factors.

"We are very excited that we have not only proven superior product performance but have also made tremendous progress in diversifying our global customer base."
