Axalta-Huajia Coatings is set to join forces with engineering company Shazc Group to coat the sound barriers installed on new Metro Line 17 in Shanghai, China.
The powder coating Alesta AR will protect the sound management structures along the Qingpu section of the 35.2km metro line.
Running from Minhang to Qingpu District, Line 17 starts at Hongqiao Railway Station and ends at Oriental Land Park.
The line is expected to begin operations later this year.
The AR500-UD series features fluoropolymer powder coating technology and environmentally responsible formulations and ultra-low VOC to offer better protection and colour accuracy.
Axalta industrial coatings business president Mike Cash said: “Axalta is honoured to participate in the construction of this important branch of Shanghai’s public transportation network.
“With the growth of China’s high-speed rail transportation, there is also an accelerated demand for future high-speed systems to operate quietly and sustainably.”
Earlier, the company provided its coating solutions to Harbin Dalian railway’s high-speed trains, as well as to trains in the extension section of Tianjin Urban Rail Line 1 and the Beijing Metro Line 15.
Shazc Group engineering centre vice general manager Song Fengbin said: “Axalta is a key strategic partner of SHAZC, and we’ve worked together for more than ten years.
“Its innovative technologies, quality products and solutions, and superior services have contributed to the development and long-term success of the Shazc Group and the entire rail transportation industry.”
