A team from British company Atkins and US-based engineering services provider CH2M has secured a contract from the UK’s rail transport company Network Rail to deliver stage one On-Networks Systems programme for its Crossrail II project.
The project is a new rail route proposed to serve London and South East England.

Atkins Transportation's managing director Philip Hoare said: “It is a real honour to be working in collaboration with Network Rail and CH2M on the development of this programme.
“Crossrail II could play a major part in creating the extra capacity needed on London's transport network and promoting wider regional economic growth for London and the South East.”
The new route will link National Rail networks in Surrey and Hertfordshire through the development of new tunnels and stations between Wimbledon, Tottenham Hale, and New Southgate, connecting with London Underground, London Overground, Crossrail I, and other national and international rail services.
Under the £1.5m contract, the team will develop new and upgraded designs for Network Rail’s stations, tracks, and rail infrastructure on either side of the proposed tunnelled section.

By GlobalDataWork will cover the mainline to Hampton Court, Epsom, Chessington South, and Shepperton in the South West, along with the Broxbourne Junction to Tottenham Hale in West Anglia.
The new rail route will help increase passenger capacity of the regional rail network and reduce travel times across the South East of England. It will also boost the economy of the region by offering proper infrastructure to accommodate 200,000 new homes and generate 200,000 new jobs.
