France-based Ansaldo STS (STS), a unit of Finmeccanica, has signed a €62m contract with Eiffage to provide a signalling system and services on the high-speed Le Mans-Rennes line in the country’s north-west .
The work includes the design, supply, test and commissioning of the signalling systems and services to equip the 182km of high-speed line and 32km of conventional lines to ensure connections to the existing network.

The company will also provide ERTMS level 2 and TVM 300 on the high-speed line, as well as ERTMS level 1 on the conventional lines with interlocking, hot box detectors, track circuits, radio block centres as well as Eurobalises to allow trains to run at a speed of 320km/h.
The high-speed line project, also called BPL, is expected to completed before the end of 2016.
