French transport and energy infrastructure group Alstom has unveiled a life-sized model of its Citadis Compact tram for Greater Avignon.
The model will be on display until spring 2014, and was selected in September 2013 through a public consultation of around 4,000 voters.

Scheduled to enter service in late 2016, the 24m tram can accommodate between 133 and 146 passengers (up to 45,000 a day) depending on the interior layout, and will run on the two lines of the future 14.5km network.
Alstom Transport design and styling vice president Xavier Allard said: "The design is based on the rhythm of coloured surfaces. It emphasises the large double doors that help to identify the tram’s entrances and recalls architectural elements of the city."
In total, Alstom will supply 24 Citadis Compact trams to Greater Avignon.
The new trams feature large windows, air conditioning and a real-time information system to ensure passenger comfort and well-being on every journey. They are also equipped with double doors at the front and rear.

By GlobalDataCitadis Compact will be built by companies throughout France. The tran is designed and assembled at La Rochelle, while motor design and production is carried out at Ornans. Bogies are produced at Le Creusot, electrical and electronic traction equipment at Tarbes, control system at Valenciennes, onboard electronics at Villeurbanne, and design at Saint-Ouen.
A total of 1,726 Citadis trams have been ordered by 43 global cities so far. Alstom claims that 1,500 Citadis trams operating worldwide have prevented the emission of over four million tonnes of CO2, compared with emissions from car traffic and improved quality of life in cities.
