Alstom has secured a €28m order from Bordeaux’s Metropolitan Council in France to deliver ten additional Citadis trams.
The new Citadis light rail vehicles (LRVs) will provide additional fleet capacity for the expansion of its 79km light rail network.

Since 2000, Bordeaux has ordered 115 Citadis and owns one of the largest tram fleets in France.
The new 44m-long LRVs are scheduled to enter service in 2018 and will be identical to the existing fleet trams operating on the network.
The new trains will be equipped with Alstom’s APS ground-level power supply system, which was pioneered in Bordeaux, and can accommodate up to 300 passengers.
The low floor Citadis features air-conditioning, a video surveillance system, and audio and visual information.

By GlobalDataThese vehicles will be operated on the 9.8km Line D, construction of which is expected to be initiated later this month, after the €270m project overcame a legal challenge in last July.
Scheduled to be opened in 2019, the line will be further extended to Saint-Medard-en-Jalles in 2021.
Alstom France senior vice-president Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud said: "This new order confirms the trust placed by the Bordeaux Metropole in Alstom’s Citadis.
"These ten new tramsets will be designed and produced in France to very high standards of quality and respect for deadlines."
The trams will be manufactured by Alstom in France, with design and assembly taking place in La Rochelle, production of motors in Ornans, bogies in Le Creusot, traction equipment in Tarbes, onboard electronics in Villeurbanne and additional design in Saint-Ouen.
