Alstom

Alstom has delivered a new signalling system to be equipped on the Málaga Metro in Spain, under a €15.4m contract that was awarded in 2006.

The signalling system is based on Alstom’s Urbalis 400 communication-based train control (CBTC) solution, which provides real-time information about the train’s location by using radio communication.

Urbalis 400 reduces the distance between trains with 90s intervals and it is independent of fixed trackside signalling.

The contract covers a complete Urbalis solution, which includes a wireless local area network for train control, Smartlock 400 interlocking, trackside equipment and automatic train supervision.

"With a low lifecycle cost, Urbalis can be installed on both light transit and metro networks at different levels of automation."
